Day 10

What I have learned through this whole experience is to never trust any "schedule" provided by a medical professional. It seems as if they operate on a timetable that none of us are aware of and nothing ever happens when they say it will. ðŸ˜‰

Case it point, turns out mom never actually received her plasma transfusions last night... which is why the procedure was pushed back until today. Mom gave me a quick call early this morning to let me know she was feeling OK and that her bronchoscopy was still scheduled for "sometime" today. She received on transfusion of plasma later in the morning and was taken to the procedure room at around 10:30.

The whole thing took about 10 min. and the pulmonologist confirmed that everything in her lungs looked good (no indication of any tumor or other growths, thank GOD!) and there was not a ton of secretions which is also good news. They took some fluid from the lungs to test and try to determine what might be causing the continued infection, but we likely will not have results until Monday.

Her fevers have remained around 100 the last two days and she is still free and clear of the neutropenic scaries which is a blessing. She also mentioned that her platelet count was up to 35 which made my heart SO happy...things are looking UP.

We anticipate her stay in the hospital to continue until Monday or Tuesday, but hopefully she will be home to Izzy girl and dad very, very soon. I know how much they miss her and how much mom misses her own bed. :)

She is struggling with a bit of a cough these past few days which is causing some chest pain and constant exhaustion which leaves her very sleepy most days. She apologizes for her limited communication/responses but hopes to get back to you all very soon. ðŸ˜˜

Maggie
